My best tip for parents of beginners is to buy a Keyboard from the upper low end of a trusted brand to begin with.
Having more flashing lights and gadgets does not make a keyboard sound better.
And if the sound is ‘tinny’ you can almost guarantee that your child will not practice.
Buying a good quality keyboard from the range I suggest still allows your child to enjoy a large range of different instrument sounds and rhythms which are fun to experiment and play along with.
I have found this to be the key in getting young children to practice. They like to be able to play music they are familiar with and enjoy.
As I’ve said, being able to play your favorite pieces easily without taking years to master them is what music should be about.
And you do not necessarily require a “grand piano” to play and enjoy the latest Wiggles tune.
